Arts Advocacy Day

March 4-5, 2019
Washington, D.C.
Arts Advocacy Day is a two-day event that takes place each year in Washington, D.C. and is hosted by Americans for the Arts. Since 2003, Drexel has been taking Arts Administration students to this national event to meet with their Congressmen, Senators or their staff to advocate for public policy and funding to support the arts. In addition to these meetings, Arts Administration students participate in a mini-conference where they have the chance to meet with other students, arts administrators and advocates, as well as enjoy the annual Nancy Hanks Lecture. In past years this lecture has been given by greats such as Yo-Yo Ma, Alec Baldwin, Wynton Marsalis and Wendy Wasserstein. All Arts Administration students are eligible to attend Arts Advocacy Day. Top priority is given to first year students and the funds received from an annual fundraiser help send students on this important trip.
