Board Positions

President
  • Oversee all AAGA Board members, events and initiatives
  • Call, set agenda and preside over meetings
  • Represent the AAGA to the Graduate Student Association
  • Liaise with the faculty advisor
  • Serve as a contact to outside organizations and individuals
  • Review all funding requests
  • Appoint first year liaisons and committee members
  • Oversee elections
Vice President
  • Act in partnership with the President.
  • Oversee board activities in the absence of the President
  • Strengthen board outputs where needed
  • Oversee annual speaker events
  • Act as the liaison to the AFTA Emerging Leaders Network
Events Director
  • Coordinate activities on and off campus, including the fall welcome event
  • Coordinate room reservations, catering, fund requests, invitations and RSVP lists
  • Lead all planning and execution of the AAGA Art Auction
  • Serve as main point of contact for campus resources and facilities
  • Recruit, train and oversee student volunteers for all AAGA events
  • Research and publicize community volunteer opportunities for students to gain hands-on experiences
  • Document student activity for ArtsLine, AAGA blog, and department awareness
  • Act as single point of contact for students seeking volunteer opportunities
Advocacy Director
  • Organize, lead and attend art advocacy initiatives and trainings
  • Lead all planning, promotion and student engagement with Nation Arts Advocacy Day
  • Organize all registration and itinerary logistics
  • Act as on-site student leader at National Arts Advocacy Day
  • Research and publicize advocacy opportunities for students to gain real-life experiences
  • Document student activity for ArtsLine, AAGA blog, and department awareness
  • Serve as single point of contact for students seeking to engage in advocacy efforts, both on and off campus
Communications Director
  • Work directly with members of the Westphal College of Media Arts and Design to create cohesive marketing and branding efforts for the AAGA that are consistent with University standards
  • Create a marketing plan for the AAGA blog, utilizing new and relevant content
  • Maintain the blog’s usage and monitor statistics
  • Maintain the AAGA’s social network outlets
  • Contribute graphic design work as needed
